What is Typefully?

Checked Typefully's site, pricing page, and the public review record on 2026-10-27 — no account created, so nothing here is from inside the app. It is a writing-first scheduler: drafts get polished in a distraction-free editor with per-platform previews, then queue out to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon, with X analytics, AI rewriting, and an API/MCP layer that lets AI agents queue posts for you. Pricing runs $0 / $99-per-year / $18-per-social-set-per-month, and the fine print — annual-only billing, X-only analytics — is what decides who should skip it.

Key Features

AI Writing Assistant

Rewrite, expand, and brainstorm inside the editor with AI tuned to your post history, plus AI chat and alt-text generation on paid plans.

Multi-platform publishing

Cross-post one draft to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon with per-platform previews, first comments, and PDF carousels for LinkedIn.

Queue, calendar, and growth automation

Natural-language scheduling, a team calendar, auto-retweets, Auto-Plug re-promotion of evergreen posts, and Thread Finisher on X.

API, MCP, and agent skills

Free API access on every plan, an MCP server, and integrations for Claude, ChatGPT, Zapier, Slack, Raycast, and Notion — agents can queue drafts into the calendar.

Pros & Cons

What works

  • Real free tier: $0 gets you 10 posts a month, advanced scheduling, and even API/MCP access — enough to run a personal queue without paying (pricing page, 2026-10-27).
  • One draft publishes to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon, with Substack appearing in the plan comparison — coverage of the text-first networks most suites treat as afterthoughts (pricing compare, 2026-10-27).
  • Creator costs $99/year — about $8.25/month for AI rewriting, X analytics, and unlimited media, roughly a tenth of what full management suites charge for the same posting volume (pricing page, 2026-10-27).
  • The only scheduler in our category shipping an MCP server and agent skills, so Claude or ChatGPT can queue drafts into your calendar directly (homepage + pricing compare, 2026-10-27).

Watch out for

  • Analytics exist for X only — LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Threads get your posts but no numbers back, a gap a third-party hands-on reviewer hit directly in September 2026 (blog-everydayaituts, updated 2026-09-18).
  • Creator is annual billing only: $99 up front, no monthly option, and the /refunds URL listed in Typefully's own sitemap redirects to the homepage instead of a policy (verified 2026-10-27).
  • AI usage burns credits, and the single G2 review (0.5/5, March 2026) describes losing a full day of credits correcting a brand voice the AI fabricated (G2, accessed 2026-10-27).
  • No inbox, no social listening, no client reporting — replies are limited to X automations, so agencies still need a management suite alongside it (feature list, 2026-10-27).

Who is it for?

great

Solo creators and ghostwriters growing on X

The editor, queue, and X growth automations are built for exactly this; $99/year undercuts every full suite.

good

Small teams co-writing one brand's content

Business adds comments, roles, and Slack notifications at $18/month per social set — fine until you need approval workflows.

limited

LinkedIn-first brands

Publishing works, but with zero LinkedIn analytics you're scheduling blind; a suite with LI reporting fits better.

limited

Agencies managing client inboxes and reports

No inbox, listening, or white-label reporting — pair it with a management tool or skip it.

Pricing page, homepage, affiliate signup, and the review record all checked on 2026-10-27; I have not run an account through it, so what follows is what the vendor's own pages will and won't commit to.

Typefully is a writing desk that happens to publish, where Buffer is a publishing queue that happens to edit. That ordering shows up in everything: the distraction-free editor with pixel-perfect per-platform previews, the Mac app, AI rewriting that learns your post history, and now an MCP server that lets Claude or ChatGPT drop drafts straight into your calendar. It crosses posts to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon from one draft — the text-first networks suites ignore.

What it actually costs

PlanPriceCeiling
Free$010 posts/mo, 1 social set, 1 user
Creator$99/year, annual only1,000 posts/mo, X analytics, AI writing
Business$18/mo per social set, billed yearly1,500 posts/mo, up to 50 sets, unlimited users

The true-cost math is friendly to solo operators: Creator works out to $8.25/month, and the free tier's 10 posts are enough to run a real personal queue. Business pricing scales per social set, so ten client accounts means $180/month committed yearly — at that point compare it against Sendible, which bundles reporting and an inbox for similar money.

The Catch

The subscription is annual or nothing on Creator — $99 up front, no monthly escape hatch — and when I went looking for the refund terms, the /refunds URL in Typefully's own sitemap redirects to the homepage rather than a policy page. That may be housekeeping sloppiness, but it's the wrong kind of ambiguity on a prepaid plan. Second: the analytics loop only closes on X. LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Threads get your posts and return nothing measurable, which a hands-on reviewer confirmed in September 2026 — if LinkedIn is your growth channel, you're scheduling blind. Third, AI runs on credits, and the one G2 review on record (0.5/5, March 2026) describes burning an entire day's credits fixing a brand voice the AI invented. Who wastes money here: a LinkedIn-first brand paying $99 for insights it will never see, or an agency that needs an inbox — Typefully writes and ships your posts, then leaves the listening to someone else. If X is your main channel and you want the best drafting environment in this category, the annual fee is honest value; everyone else should start on Free and let the 10-post ceiling tell them the truth.
